Description of Classes

Beginner Yoga 6-week Series

Learn the basics of a yoga practice in a class where everyone is brand new to yoga. You'll learn traditional poses, some beginning pranayama (breathing techniques) and some yoga history and philosophy. You'll challenge yourself as you work at your own level in a safe and supportive environment. Modifications and instruction on alignment will be offered as you practice each pose. You'll add to your base of knowledge each week and at the end of the six-week series you'll be confident and ready to graduate to some of the other classes on our schedule.

Beginner Yoga - Level 1 & 2

These classes are for students new to yoga or for those who wish to continue to work on the foundations of the postures. Classes are for all levels of students, modifications will be offered to support each body type.

Beginner Vinyasa

The Beginner Vinyasa class is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of a flowing yoga practice through breath synchronized movement. Including yoga basics, it offers a strong emphasis on learning transitions (including the high to low yoga push ups known as Chaturanga Dandasana), while giving more seasoned students the opportunity to rediscover and refine their asana practice with a deeper exploration of proper alignment and Ujjayi breathing.

Beginner Yin 4-Week Series

Explore a Yin Yoga Practice.  Learn the basics of long-held (3-5 min.) seated poses that open the deeper tissues of the body-connective tissue, joints and ligaments. The challenge is in embracing the stillness.

Gentle Vinyasa

This class is appropriate for the beginner student as well as the seasoned yogi who would like to slow down their pace. We take time moving in and out of the poses and also take time to look inward and feel the benefits of each pose. Verbal instructions and modifications are offered to encourage the student to work at their own level. This is an all levels class. Leave feeling energized and stress free.

Lunchtime Vinyasa

Join us for lunch! A one-hour vinyasa yoga class for those with limited time. Leave refreshed, renewed and ready to take on the rest of your day.

Strength Vinyasa

In a flowing sequence of poses come find the edge you've been looking for. Using movement with breath, increase your strength, coordination, concentration, and body awareness while calming your mind and reducing stress. Challenge yourself at your level and leave feeling more balanced, on the mat and off.

Tranquility Yoga

Appropriate for beginners and anyone who simply wants to slow down and enjoy a mellow practice by candlelight. Breathe, stretch gently and relax deeply into that place of tranquility at your center.

 All-levels Vinyasa / Flow

An all-levels challenging class that unites your breath with your body offering a variety of asanas for all levels of yoga practitioners. Be prepared to calm your mind and enlighten your spirit.

Yin Yoga

Our bodies need active movement, but for optimum flexibility they also need the unique opening that only yin yoga can provide. Practice long-held, seated poses to open the deeper tissues of the body-connective tissue, joints and ligaments. This class is appropriate for all levels and though some refer to it as passive yoga the challenge is in embracing the stillness. A great class for athletes wishing to balance the activity of their sport.
